What the hell is WHO KILLED CAPTAIN ALEX (2010) and why have I never run across it before? Fantasia 2015

Made by Nabwana I.G.G in 2010 from his home. It became a huge hit within the country. It exists only on a low res DVD copy, the result of the the director wiping his hard drive in order to make his next film. It was never supposed to be seen outside of his own village.

(At this point I'm going to ramble for a bit, which is the right reaction to seeing this film-it provokes endless babbling.)

I have no idea what to say. I have no idea how to describe this.

A weird psychotronic action film with a plot I can't decipher has tons of very well done action and its own Rifftrax style commentary track. Its loud crazy and completely out there.

It gave me a headache

I loved every goddamn frame of it and I wish I had a copy so I could watch it with friends.

Maybe that should be inflict it on friends.

Viewing this film is an experience. You have the feature which runs about an hour and has some sort of plot about Captain Alex trying to stop bad guys. But on top of that you have a running commentary in English that explains some things, comments on others and makes jokes about everything else.Imagine MST3K or Riff Trax if the guys just talked all over the film- about anything. That's what this film is like.

The commentary would make most people climb the walls but it some how adds to the experience. It also distracts from it since the copy I saw it was so loud and over powering that's all I heard. Any notion of the under lying film was lost other than the action,

The action while done on the cheap was pretty good.

I could not watch every film like this but once in a while, with friends and a goofy film like this, I could do it.

Is this a masterpiece? Are you on crack?

This is a viewing experience that is best had a midnight with lots of like minded people.

I hate to think what Nabwana would do with a proper budget, not the 200 bucks this cost- actually I would love to see it.

You have to see this-preferably with friends since this is one of the best cinematic experiences of the year for any film nut worth their salt..

  1. The full movie (with English VJ) is on their youtube channel, so you can inflict it on your friends whenever you want. And you should, because the world has to know about this.
